Excepted Battery Training

Sessions are Live, Instructor led, via TEAMS meeting. So, no questions should go unanswered.

Unlike full "hazmat employee" training required by DOT (49 CFR 172.700), IATA, and the IMDG Code, this course only provides "adequate instruction" for the functions performed with "excepted" lithium and sodium ion batteries. This course will address air and ground shipment of excepted batteries but is NOT adequate and will not cover the air shipment of "battery only" shipments (UN3090, UN3480) where shipping papers and full hazmat employee training are required.

This training exception is outlined in the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulation, Section 1.6, and under DOT in 49 CFR 173.185 (c) 4 (iv).

The intended audience is fulfillment centers in the US and Canada routinely shipping lithium batteries.

All IATA member airlines will expect your battery shippers to have this training as set forth in Section 1.6 of the DGR.
